You still want the banks "in his hand."
Its all about control.
Obama used his willingness to go big banks on bankruptcy laws, to favors to give to his campaign. Once the major banks to reach the point where you say "no" - Obama loses his ability to exploit the financial powers to enable the money directly to their favorites.
